Libby's Vienna Sausage Review

Our house is a two-person family, we don't usually buy groceries in bulk. We haven't stocked up on emergency canned food before. However, as the coronavirus has spread, we began to realize the need for stock food as we couldn't shop groceries often.
Libby's Vienna Sausage, especially the Chicken Sausage, is a canned product we sometimes get from a market. This product became the first canned food we purchased in bulk.

Libby's Vienna Sausages are small. One can is a good amount to use at a time for a small family. They are easy to find, good price, easy to store, and taste good. We usually use them for pasta and Budae jjigae which we regularly enjoy.

We got a box of Libby's Vienna Sausage at Sam's Club for $7.47, which is 42¢ per can. The best price I found on the grocery markets was about 70¢. Wholesale price is much cheaper.

I didn't care much about the nutrition of this product before...but the amount of cholesterol is a bit shocking. This is why processed meat is not good for health, I guess.  (๑°ㅁ°๑)

Back of the box

The package says they are made with chicken, beef and pork added. It's mainly made of chicken, and the beef and pork are less than 2%.

The expiration date is far enough. I bought them in April 2020 and they expire in September 2022. I always cook them on the stove, sir fry or boil. I don't use the broth.

18 small cans

I really like that the cans are easy-open. The lid is thin and light, super easy to open. No can opener required!
Its friend, Chicken Vienna Sausage

7 small pieces of sausages are in one can. They are very soft. No thick skin around the sausage. I usually cut them like coins and stir fry for pasta, or slice them vertically for Budae jjigae.

This time I decided to make kimbap with the sausage. I cut the sausages into 3 pieces vertically and stir fried them before using them as toppings.
Great topping for kimbap

How was it? It was so delicious! It just tasted like the sausage kimbap that I sometimes get from a kimbap restaurant. The sausage has a stronger flavor compared to other toppings, but the combination of all toppings and rice was excellent. I also made egg kimbap and tuna kimbap, so it was fun to enjoy kimbap with different emphasis.

Like other canned sausages and ham, Libby's Vienna Sausage can be used for a variety of dishes. Enjoy!
