Have you ever experienced trying something new without high expectations and it really hit the spot? This pasta sauce gave me that experience. It's Trader Joe's Creamy Tomato Basil Pasta Sauce.
From the different categories of pasta sauce, my favorite is definitely tomato sauce. I sometimes enjoy cream sauce, but only a couple of times a year. Creamy tomato pasta sauce? I enjoyed it when I lived in Korea, but I hadn't found a creamy tomato sauce that hits the spot, until now. When I saw Creamy Tomato Basil Pasta Sauce at Trader Joe's, I didn't have high expectations, but I thought it was worth a try.

It was my first time trying Trader Joe's pasta sauce. A bottle of Creamy Tomato Basil Pasta Sauce is $2.99 and it's 25 ounces (708 g).

It has 120 calories per half cup (125 g). For a whole bottle, it's about 700 calories. One thing to remember is that this is just for the sauce, not including the pasta noodles or toppings you will add. 7% daily value of cholesterol per serving seems a bit high to me. The sauce contains a good amount of calcium and iron.

When I was at Trader Joe's, I also grabbed a bag of Organic Spaghetti ($1.29). Some of Trader Joe's products are not necessarily local, as this spaghetti was imported from Italy. I love products when they are organic and a great price.

Onion is an essential veggie for me to add when I cook pasta, sometimes diced tomatoes too. I also added Libby's Vienna Sausage (see the review) and sliced black olives. Canned sausages are so convenient and go well with various dishes.

When I had the first bite of this pasta, it was literally "WOW". It had such a rich flavor. The combination of tomato and cream was just amazing. It was creamy but not overwhelming, and not tart like some tomato pasta sauce. The name of this sauce is Creamy Tomato Basil Pasta Sauce, but I could barely taste basil. I wouldn't have noticed basil if the name didn't include "basil" in it.

I just couldn't stop eating. Every bite I kept saying, "this is so good"! This sauce is so rich and flavorful that it wouldn't really need other vegetables or meat added. I am honest and try to stay neutral in product reviews, but if you are looking for high quality cream tomato pasta sauce, I highly recommend this Trader Joe's Creamy Tomato Basil Pasta Sauce.
