Kikkoman Memmi Noodle Soup Base Review

Are you losing appetite as the weather gets hot? Cold noodle dishes are a great option for hot summer weather. You can find food products that make cooking easy without going to a restaurant. Today, I made Zaru Soba using Kikkoman Memmi noodle soup base with buckwheat noodles.

Zaru Soba is very simple to make if you have two main ingredients; buckwheat noodles (soba noodles) and noodle soup base. There were several options for them in the Asian market and this time I chose Kikkoman Memmi noodle soup base.

Kikkoman Memmi Noodle Soup Base

Kikkoman Memmi noodle soup base has a deep, dark color. I bought a 20 fluid ounce (591ml) bottle on sale for $3.99.

$3.99 for 20 FL OZ (591ml)

Since the main ingredient of this noodle base is soy sauce, it contains a large amount of sodium. This product also includes MSG (Monosodium Glutamate) and food color (caramel). Kikkoman is a Japanese brand, but this product was produced in the United States.

Nutrition Facts & Ingredients

You can make a variety of different dishes with Kikkoman Memmi noodle soup base. The directions show the amount of water to add to each part of Memmi noodle soup base. Zaru Soba uses 4 parts of water for each part of noodle soup base

Directions to prepare

I also bought a bag of soba noodles ($4.99) in the Asian market. I made sure the noodles are thick and good quality.
These noodles are conveniently wrapped for each serving, for a total of 15 servings. Basically, 15 servings of Zaru Soba are only $9 and it's just a couple more bucks for toppings!  (*´ ワ `*)

For toppings, I had ground radish, sliced cucumbers and dried seaweed, and chopped green onions. Some wasabi was also added for the spicy flavor. I mixed 2 tablespoons of Memmi noodle soup base with 4 tablespoons of water, and added some ice cubes to enjoy the dish cool. At first it had a strong flavor, but as the ice melted it became just right.
Instead, you can mix the noodle soup base in the right ratio from the beginning and then freeze it until it becomes icy. Then enjoy it cool.
you can adjust the amount of noodle soup base to your liking.

Zaru Soba was such a refreshing meal on a hot day. Unlike other brands of noodle soup base, Kikkoman Memmi noodle soup base has a stronger soy sauce flavor than bonito flavor. I recommend more authentic products made in Japan or Korea, but this product is a great alternative that can be more easily found in markets in the U.S.
